About Inlifetherapy Occupational Therapy

Inlifetherapy was established with a vision to help those that struggle with breathlessness and fatigue in their daily lives and can't get to an outpatient program and need more practical help and education than a medication review can provide.

As your therapist I can listen to your needs, problem solve and lead you through non-pharmacological approaches essential to self-management of chronic breathlessness and fatigue:

  • Experience has shown that learning breathing, posture and task simplification techniques can assist in self-management and result in improved confidence. Effective self-management can mean you are active whilst better managing your breathlessness.
  • Heart failure patients benefit from breath management in daily activities to assist in maintaining independence at home when most surgical and pharmacological strategies have been exhausted.
  • Those who have chronic breathlessness exacerbations benefit from regular visits initially to develop skills and then reviews once they are back in routine and moving again to maintain confidence and new formed skilled habits.
  • Throughout disease progression, reviews can help you adjust your breathing techniques to fit the change in condition and activity levels.

In 2020 service was extended to include home modifications to access and bathrooms to assist with independence and falls prevention at home.

The work has involved assisting many to modify their homes and through aids prescription and recommendations for service assistance keep them from having to leave their home of many years and remain in their local community.
